Gary Numan - Still Rockin' With New Album

This was from a performance at KCRW Radio in Los Angeles for their Morning Come Electric program. Numan was in great form, performing live studio, doing two sets and a casual interview in between. It's worth watching for the interview alone. He shows himself to be charming and down to earth, having weathered thirty years in a music business that hasn't always appreciated his continuous efforts.

The first set and part of the second set are from his new album, "Splinter". Completed by a strong finish with three classic from his early years, including the eponymous "Cars". Follow the link to the link to the 75 minute HD video at KCRW.

If you're not familiar with him, he's been claimed as a major influence by such bands as Fu Fighters, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. He was a driving force of the early eighties synthesizer sound but that has given way to a darker, "industrial" rock style as his inspiration has returned in recent years. Watch the full video, it's worth it.

Untitled Chiaroscuro Portrait No. 6

With this one I was attempting to create drawings with a limited palette is restricting. But having constraints and working within them will sometimes make artwork better, for lack of a better word. Brown and cream pastel pencils on buff colored paper. 16" x 20"

David Dellinger Peace Portrait

This is another black and white chiaroscuro drawing. This time on blue paper. I started doing drawings like this at the direction of an art instructor in 2004. I took to it like a duck to water and never looked back. Dimensions: 10" x 8"

Soon Available In The U.S.A. under The Affordable Care Act.

Untitled Chiaroscuro Portrait No. 5

Black and white chalk pencils on amber Canson paper.
Just trying to get a dramatic pose here and I think that a subject that has their gaze fixed away from the viewer helps to that end. This was done in black and white pastel pencil on amber Canson paper, measures 16" x 16" in dimension.

Old Salt Blog Reports that progress on finding a home for USS Olympia. Good thing too, she's way too leaky to stay where she is now!

Currently moored near The SS United States. She hasn't moved since the 1950s and suffered severe neglect due to a lack of funding in recent years.
